As the proud recipients of the inaugural NCAA Division III LGBTQ Athletics Department of the Year Award in 2020, BSU has for NCAA and intramural student-athletes.
The Barney Frank Equality Scholarship is for current students with financial need who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender as well as for allies with financial need who have advocated for the LGBTQ+ community. Preference is given to students who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender and who have lost financial assistance from their parents upon disclosing their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Office of Residence Life and Housing
BSU has three policies designed to provide a safe and inclusive living environment for transgender and nonbinary students.
- Housing assignments based on gender identity;
- Gender-free housing which permits students of different gender identities to share living quarters; and
- Housing for nonbinary students such that a certain number of beds and rooms will be set aside for students who are nonbinary either by gender identity or legal gender designation. This nonbinary designation is consistent with how male or female only spaces are reserved and assigned.
