ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø’s Department of Geography features programs in urban studies and planning, environmental science and geographic information science for your choice in career paths. In fact, our alumni with geography degrees are working in education, environmental analysis and preservation, libraries, mapmaking and planning.

Our Geography Department offers four undergraduate geography degrees and three minors, including a concentration in environmental sustainability and minor in urban studies and planning. No matter your chosen study of geography or professional aspirations, BSU’s Geography Department gives you the opportunity to:

  • Learn from faculty with diverse backgrounds. Our faculty members have been leaders in government agencies, nonprofit organizations and private companies. They’ll bring both professional and academic expertise into your classes about the environmental, human and physical study of geography.
  • Study in small classes. At BSU, you’ll rarely pursue the study of geography with more than 20 students. Our student-to-faculty ratio is 6-to-1, which means you’ll have ample opportunities to connect and network with faculty and staff, as well as fellow urban studies students. You’ll also benefit from the guidance and mentorship of our Geography Department faculty, who will provide advice and direction during internships, research projects and study abroad experiences.
